There are so many skills required of an effective manager. With this in mind The Learning Quest has designed programmes which are at the heart of being an effective manager these include:

Appraisal Skills

 

This one day workshop will enable you to gain both knowledge and skills for carrying out effective appraisal reviews. You will learn about the purpose and benefits of appraisal reviews and how to give effective

feedback. A key element of this workshop is putting your newly acquired skills into practice in the simulation sessions.

 

Introduction to Management

 

This four day programme covers all the main skills associated with being a manager.

Day One is about 'Managing Yourself' and looks at key elements of stress, time management, being assertive and managing change.

Day Two looks at 'Managing the Task' as well as aspects of your role as a manager and problem solving skills.

Day Three concentrates on 'Managing the Team' looking at styles of leadership; team effectiveness and handling conflict.

Day Four is about 'Managing Individuals' as well as key elements of motivation and communication/giving feedback and how to deal with poor performance.

 

Action planning, ensuring that skills and knowledge are transferred back into the workplace are integral to all four days.

 

Leadership

 

The Team Leader programme, builds on the foundations covered in the Introduction to Management workshops. Based over a two month period the five modules include:

 

Module One - Self Awareness and Time Management

Module Two - Communication

Module Three - Leadership and Motivation

Module Four - Coaching

Module Five - Effective Team Working and

Developing Working relationships

 

However, depending on your specific requirements you may prefer to have a programme designed specifically for your company. One international client chose the following:

 

Day One - Raising self awareness/beliefs/values/communications

Day Two - Management and leadership and team dynamics

Day Three - Change management and the role of the leader

Day Four - Coaching and setting objectives

Day Five - Strategic Planning

Day Six - Creative thinking and handling conflict

Day Seven - Evaluating the impact of the programme

 

One to one coaching was also given to participants thereby assisting them even further, helping them to transfer the knowledge and skills into their workplace.

Management Effectiveness

 

This one day workshop will help you find out how to increase your self awareness and personal effectiveness in managing and developing your people.

 

You will learn about the six key principles for effective people management and how to practice implementing them. You will also learn how to manage difficult and sensitive situations.

 

Recruitment and Selection

 

This comprehensive two day workshop will cover all the aspects you need to know to enable you to effectively recruit staff into your

organisation. It will cover direct and indirect discrimination, legislation underpinning effective recruitment practices; the purpose of key documentation and the skills involved in the selection process. A large part of the programme will be to utilise these skills in simulation exercises.

 

Dealing with difficult people and handling conflict

 

This one day workshop looks at what conflict is and the different types of conflict individual's experience. It will consider both positive and negative aspects of conflict and how we all approach it. A number of conflict resolution models will be considered and discussed.

 

Coaching Skills

 

This two day intensive workshop will equip individuals with the skills, knowledge and practice to coach effectively within the workplace. At the end of the workshop you will be able to explain the differences between coaching, training and mentoring and identify both benefits and barriers to these approaches.

 

A model of coaching will be explored and put into practice as well as identifying your own personal working style. A gap between workshops will enable you to put into practice your coaching skills at work and help you to develop further confidence in this very effective technique.
